The AGDQ 2020 game list is up! gamesdonequick.com/submission/games-list

For the uninitiated, Games Done Quick (GDQ) is an organization that tracks and maintains speedrun statistics for nearly every game that can be run. Twice a year (technically 3 times including GDQx at TwitchCon), they hold a multi-day charity stream conference that features around-the-clock speedruns. Last year at their summer event, they raised $3 million for Doctors Without Borders (MSF). It's a wonderfully wholesome event packed with runs, equally funny as they are just downright impressive.

AGDQ 2020 is happening January 5th-12th this year. Personally, I'm really excited to see Bioshock, Dark Souls, Sekiro, and the Doom (2016) run. I've seen the Dark Souls one before but I'm most interested to hear couch commentary on that, since I've pumped over 150 hours into the game myself. I've notice this year that they've got a Fallout block, which I bet @MisterPookie is going to love. I'm not at all stoked for the Megaman block as I never grew up playing those, but it's a staple in its own right.

The 2 player 1 controller Punch Out! run is sure to be a blast, if you haven't seen it one of the runners (zallard1) did a blindfolded Punch Out for Wii run last year and it was easily the highlight of the entire event. The TAS block should hopefully be interesting too.

What games are you looking forward to?

    Clone Hero (Guitar Hero) ??
    Fallout Anthology ??
    Some wild relays ...
And plenty more I'm sure will surprise and delight. Good looking list.

Oh I totally forgot to mention that too! GDQ seems to be branching out a bit - they did a Tetris 99 "run" at GDQx this year which was pretty interesting. It was pretty much one guy playing the "Tetrix Maximus" mode and helping time when he queued so people watching could queue at the same time and snipe him. @sWaMPqUeeN almost got into the runner's game, I was certain she was in it until I realized the names didn't match up. He didn't end up winning any of the 3 games he played, but it was still rad to see someone be stupid amazing at Tetris. And the couple they had on the couch were the 7 time Tetris world champion [husband] and Dr. Mario world champion (I think) [wife].

I always try to tune in for the races. DKC 103%, the Mega Man 4-6 relay, & SMB3 should all be good.

After watching zallard beat Punch-Out! Wii blindfolded, I'll watch any of his runs.

Big time cut usually means new category. But hopefully they talk about it during the run!

That was exactly what I was thinking too - they'll probably put it in a different category

    What's good so far
    I haven't watched any yet
And I will probably not have much time to do so this week :'(

The Sonic '06 run was good, but the runner was a little annoying. Hilarious game to watch being run though - the strat for one escort mission is:

<character> will start running to the end of the map. The mission is completed when she hits the end of the map. Enemies only spawn when you walk through the map, so the best option is to not move after the mission starts and just wait the minute it will take her to run to the end. An even better strat is to spawn the first set of enemies which gets her to move faster because she's scared, then just hang out until the mission ends.

Also they've been putting runners pronouns right next to their name which I think is really rad. I'm hoping to catch the Doom runs tonight but SOMEONE ( @DangerOrange / @DigitDaemon / @Gasgiant ) has a game session planned during that time >:(

    The mushihime run was mind-melting

Started the fallout anthology run finally. Already I’m thinking about how rad it is for someone to commit to a 2+ hour marathon run than spans 5 different games with 3 different engines (and therefore extremely different tech across the series).

Edit: oh shit is this tomatoanus without a NSFAGDQ name? I know him from popularizing the speed run to sleep with every person you can sleep with in New Vegas.

I only caught the latter half of this run but I'm still super interested in the first few games to see how they're run. And YES it is haha he seems so great (and if I'm honest, dreamy)

I knew psych0sis was a good runner so I watched this before even seeing the list, the devs were a hoot. "Chat is saying we're not going to get invited back next year."
Will sink my teeth into some more of these, excited for the S tier trash-fire Terraria run?! Looks like nothing I was very interested in made it too far down on this ranking list, which is a good sign.

Oh my god the Hotline Miami run is a hoot too.

Fun fact, if this game is running slow for you, one way you can speed it up is by plugging in more mice. Also, unironically, unplugging your printer can also help.

    This game is very good.

Hotline Miami actually is a legit incredible game, just falling apart at the seams in some places.

I loved the Kuri Kuri run because that’s a game I 100% forgot about, but I put in a ton of hours when my brother first introduced me to emulators in elementary school. I definitely just say in the basement being frustrated and delighted by it for hours on end.

Good lord the Bioshock run has some seriously funny moments, @AQOcto1SSD you have to watch this one even if it's the only run you watch
