What have been your experiences with Warzone so far?
I will eventually experience it, I look forward to video gaems.

Looking at videos, it seems like there isn't really health management? Which is on-par with COD in general, just seems interesting for a battle royale

Honestly, I hope that's the case. The damage output is still high so armor is a huge advantage, but I feel like Battle Royale should feel like a series of super intense squad v squad matches, and like some sort of March Madness bracket (rip), only the most well equipped and prepared will get to the final circle.

Gonna try it out tonight and report back.

After 5 rounds, I'm enjoying this a decent amount. The gunplay feels like a more precise version of vanilla COD mechanics, which was needed for the long-range stuff. The mechanics they introduce are fun, allowing a bit more variety to the types of situations you end up in.

I got sent to the gulag and was immediately released because I was the last player let in (there must be some sort of cut off so the last 20 people don’t have to worry about reinforcements?) and so no one could challenge me. That’s the only time I’ve gotten out of the gulag- I’m very bad at 1v1 pistols.

@BugdomFan1995, another hometown friend an I had our first win last night, so I'm going to hit you with a comprehensive guide on how to Winner Winner Dorito Dinner yourself!

    1. Get to the final 50 people after only encountering 2 squads and barely taking them both out.

    2. "If no one show up in 15 minutes, you're legally allowed to leave the gulag" - BugdomFan. So, get team wiped by a single person right as revives close for business to ensure at least 2 of you get to rejoin the game without doing anything and that no one will else will have the same luxury.

    3. When redeploying, spawn directly on top of a load-out crate within the circle, preferably exactly where the final circle will end up being. This guarantees both spawning players can immediately be decked out with at least one high power close range weapon, a load of perks and equipment, and just enough ammo to sit there and wait.

    4. Again, I stress- land where the circle will end up, essentially forcing players to walk right by you without realizing you're already there, because they have no reason to think you might be.

    5. When the final arena makes itself obvious, just pop out and shoot the remaining squad in the back. Donezo.

Follow these guidelines and maybe you too can taste the sweet taste of victory in Warzone. But probably not, sucker.

Wow, this really takes some skill! Do you have any particular RNG manip strats for the circle placement?

  • March 25, 2020, 12:15 p.m.

Great question, we did some data mining on this and it turns out that circle determinations are calculated using an algorithm developed for exactly these types of tech scenarios called Gradient Geography for Exponential Z-planes which allows real-time generation of two and three dimensional shapes based on whatever input variables, seemingly random or otherwise, a programmer might want. We haven't reverse engineered the entire code yet, but have used it in spots were we were confident we could alter things in our favor. For example, we knew that by all three of us running into a room and facing the wrong direction at the same time, we could greatly increase the skew of the upcoming Centre towards our calculated coverage zone. It'll be a long time before any of this reaches the meta, but it's helped us get that edge over stiffer competition.

Some extreme Douglas Adams energy from this post, I love it. Next you're going to tell me that playing tic-tac-toe with bullet holes actually enables you to determine where loot is going to drop.

    BIG MANIP UPDIP

If you are unable to get two folks to spawn after step 2 of the patented winner method, there is still hope- have your final player hide behind some boxes until the final circle ends up all around you and just let 30+ people die before you even have to poke your head out. Top 3 guaranteed, last night we used it for a heartbreaking but solid second place.

@MisterPookie did the balance/dev team behind Warzone stop pushing daily updates? Did they do anything with their hard-and-fast A/B testing data?

  • May 11, 2020, 3:21 p.m.

NO IT IS STILL A GODDAMN MESS apparently the only way to know how your game will play on a given day is to devote several hours of your day to research. Whatever, @BugdomFan1995 and some folks and I got a sweet but salty 2nd place on quads the other day, that was fun.
