Hey swampettes - now that the holiday season is over and we're sick (or not) of our families, let's have a recap! Share your funny/depressing stories from the season, and your favorite and least favorite gifts.

This Christmas marked the next chapter in the RomCom that is my extended family.

    • My cousin now has a wobbly toddler that she claims is hers. Two years ago she brought a boy to Christmas. One year ago she brought a boy and a bump to Christmas. This year it's the toddler and no boy. "Least Discussed But Most Interested Family Topic" in a landslide three years running.

    • My other cousin (little brother to above) is now back from the Air Force is freaking jacked. He used to be a spindly Betti Spaghetti knockoff character and now is a jet flight instructor that can crush walnuts using only his biceps.

Also, my parent's dog died. He was fifteen. Long happy life.

This year's drama on my family's end was at the end of a pretty great and uneventful few days. We were driving what was usually an hour and a half through LA to visit some relatives on Christmas eve for a party. My father insisted on driving his new 4 seater Audi A8 to show it off to his brother. This, however, required fitting 5 of us in this vehicle, which ended with me in the middle of the back row in fetal position for half the ride (which totaled 3 hours). Most of the way to the party my brother asked a fairly racist question to my fiance. Both of us spoke up and pointed this out, but then my dad started defending my brother for asking such a question. Things got heated and quickly deteriorated from there, but we were fortunately saved by arriving at the party. My brother spent the first half of the party on his phone, likely shit-talking us to some of his discord pals. Couldn't care less though, I got drunk and talked about watershed conservation with one of my cousins, it was dope.

Only other major event was when we were on my fiances side and we had nearly two dozen people over at the house for the afternoon. The house was not quiet that day.

Favorite gift so far was incidentally from my brother, who got me a replacement xbox controller for my PC.
Least favorite gift was this book on crafting with the hair you collect from your cat, which is as horrid and cursed as it sounds.

Can confirm. I lurk on the server to reaffirm all of the reasons Nega-Aether (patent pending) is my mortal nemesis and enemy of all things good and sane in this world.

I'm not saying it should be inflated year-round and stuffed next to your couch as an additional chair somehow, but that is definitely what I'm saying.
