Ok I watched the opening episode of The Mandalorian while high; short story it ruled, and after flipping back through the next day, it was just as good. The only part that I thought was heavy handed, but still good, was the whole wise ugnaught teaches him to ride thing, but it is good in the 'space western' context.
Show seems like a boon to all Firefly fans as well as all the Star Wars fans who have wanted this kind of 'content remix' for so long. After watching this, it's easy to see why the new trilogy has had such a hard time - there are just too many expectations. This show allows Favreau and co to play juuuust enough with the audience's expectations, to great effect.
If that compliment sounds vague, it's because I'm trying to be, because I've enjoyed the show so much so far even just in the first episode. I could talk about it for a long time. Pumped for tonight.
