I've have heard of some of this entitys,...

For myself, I'm in another "music by/for anxious people" mood. Shamokin!!! By Mostly Other People Do The Killing is like a demented cartoonists' idea of a jazz album mixed with an Eric Andre episode, performed by brilliant musicians. There's a bass solo on the song Evans City where I think the bass player destroys a bow. Not for the faint of heart or enjoyers of peaceful music.

It's definitely not "new", but I have been OBSESSED with The 1975 for the past month. Definitely have their faults and rightful criticisms, but a broad range of sounds and styles make up for it. The thicc AF British accent of the lead singer does make for fun car/shower karaoke.

I'll try to put together a good little list to show that off, but I'm on mobile so it may take a bit

If you love the British vibes, check out The Twilight Sad - you might dig their sound

One of the best albums of the year, Kiwanuka combines folk, R&B, and Ugandan heritage in this beautiful soundscape. Sad/happy for him that tickets for all his upcoming US shows have sold out instantly.

Okay so I'm in mobile so pardon if this is short and/or formatted poorly

First of all, I've been on a "new music discovery" binge in thanks, surprisingly, to Amazons Music App and their "Discovered for you" playlist. I've had maybe 1 song in the past month I didn't like via the recommendation engine

Two songs I've fallen in love with are 1) Two Beers In by Free Throw, an angsty/guitar driven anthem of lightweights with heartbreak, and 2) Sleep by Bicurious. This song/band was actually hard to find out there on the interwebs. I love the bouncy pulse that then moves to a head banging chorus of sorts.

    Give these both a listen!

I go on a lot of math rock sprees, so I really dug Sleep. And it it took me way too long to find it, but it reminds me a lot of a slightly less poppy of this song by And So I Watch You From Afar.

Anna Meredith is my new fascination. Classically trained (but also) electronic musician, she finds vastly different ways to explore similar space in literally adjacent track numbers. For example, Inhale Exhale touches this fast paced operatic form of pop that tickles me, followed by Calion that feels like a it could be a deephouse space ballad. Thrilling.

These are...wild. I'm amazed they're part of the same album, albeit back to back! I'll have to find more of her. Calion to me felt like something out of the Tron soundtrack (which I love).
